Background
Based on data from the Jakarta Provincial Health Office, four types of COVID-19 vaccines were distributed in Jakarta during the Delta variant wave (from June to August 2021): Coronavac (Sinovac), ChAdOx1S (AstraZeneca), BBIBP-CorV (Sinopharm), and mRNA-1273 (Moderna). Although these COVID-19 vaccines have efficacy and effectiveness data from clinical trials, their real-world effectiveness, particularly during the Delta variant wave in Jakarta, has not been proven. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines in Jakarta in reducing the burden of COVID-19 infections and preventing COVID-19-related deaths during the Delta variant wave in Jakarta.
